The design and construction of a Webflow-based CMS site for a plumbing company with a focus on community.
After the successful design of the Donovan WaterWorks brand identity, I was hired to build their company website. I began this project by discussing the needs this website would meet for Donovan WaterWorks and getting a list of important functionality. I created this sitemap to help the client visualize the website content and understand the user flow. Because the most important purpose of the new website would be to book clients, most pages lead to the booking page.
The next step in my process was to build a basic skeleton of website content. For this version, no photos or text was final, and I prompted the client to instead look at the format, flow, and functionality of the site. Once that was in place, we worked together to prepare the website for launch by fleshing out all the text and plugging in the final photos.
Because Donovan WaterWorks was new on the scene, they didn't have many photographs. To fill in these gaps, I used graphic elements like color blocks and icons. For the Services page, I designed a custom set of icons to illustrate each service. These icons could be added to the Donovan WaterWorks brand guide and have since become an essential part of the Donovan WaterWorks visual marketing toolkit.
Lastly, I optimized the website for a variety of screen widths, including mobile. For the mobile version of the site, we chose to add a "Call now" banner to the top of the home page because we anticipated a high percentage of mobile visitors to have a pressing issue about which they'd need to call.
This website is still in use today and has expanded and changed slightly since its conception. Thanks to the collaborative nature of the Webflow platform, the website has been able to accomodate growing needs and today is regularly updated by several members of the Donovan WaterWorks team.
